We are looking for a Senior Associate, Legal Director or Partner with ideally 7+ years’ PQE to join a highly regarded Marine team on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will have significant experience advising ports and the wider marine industry, with expertise in areas such as litigation, regulatory, commercial, logistics, or port and coastal development work.

You will join a friendly and supportive team with an established and expanding client base, taking on significant responsibility from the outset. The role offers a varied caseload and excellent career progression opportunities.

We are looking for an ambitious, self-motivated lawyer with sound technical knowledge, excellent client-care skills and a genuine enthusiasm for the ports industry. You will be confident in developing long-term client relationships, networking and contributing to business development.

Its Marine team is nationally recognised for its industry-leading expertise and acts for a substantial number of ports, harbours, marine developers and related businesses. The team advises on a wide range of legal issues affecting the ports and marine industries, with its client base and workload continuing to expand.

Responsibilities

  • Advising ports, harbours, marine developers and related businesses on a broad range of legal matters.

  • Managing a varied and interesting caseload with significant responsibility from the outset.

  • Providing advice on litigation, regulatory, commercial, logistics, port development and coastal development matters, as appropriate to your expertise.

  • Building and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships.

  • Taking an active role in client contact, networking and business development.

  • Delivering technically sound and commercially focused advice.

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the firm and contributing to a supportive team environment.

  • Managing competing demands effectively and meeting challenging deadlines.

  • Supporting the continued growth and development of the Marine practice.

  • Contributing to wider responsible business initiatives, where appropriate.

Experience and Skills Sought

  • Senior Associate, Legal Director or Partner with ideally 7+ years’ PQE.

  • Significant experience advising clients in the ports or wider marine industry.

  • Expertise in litigation, regulatory, commercial, logistics, port or coastal development work.

  • Ambitious, self-motivated and resilient, with strong organisational skills.

  • Excellent communicator with strong client-care, networking and business-development abilities.

  • Dual qualification in Scotland would be advantageous but is not essential.
