We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Conveyancing Assistant to support a busy property team. This role would suit someone who is ambitious, adaptable and committed to achieving high standards, with previous property experience desirable but not essential.

You will provide professional administrative and legal support to a wide variety of clients, helping the team to remain organised and work efficiently. Responsibilities will include opening files, client onboarding, document production, proofreading, responding to client enquiries and assisting with exchanges, completions, Stamp Duty Land Tax returns, registrations of title and file closures.

The successful candidate will have strong IT and organisational skills, a ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines. This is an office-based position in Teignmouth, requiring attendance five days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Providing professional, proactive administrative and legal support to the property team.

  • Opening files and completing client onboarding.

  • Using the firm’s IT systems and packages effectively.

  • Proofreading documents and correspondence.

  • Responding to client enquiries by email and telephone.

  • Producing and preparing legal documents.

  • Assisting with exchanges and completions.

  • Preparing and filing Stamp Duty Land Tax returns.

  • Assisting with registrations of title.

  • Closing and archiving client files.

  • Supporting lawyers generally with day-to-day conveyancing matters.

  • Maintaining a well-organised approach and ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently.

  • Working under pressure and meeting relevant deadlines.

  • Attending the Teignmouth office five days a week.

Experience and Skills Sought

  • Previous experience in a property role is desirable but not essential.

  • Strong IT and organisational skills.

  • A proactive, adaptable and ‘can-do’ attitude.

  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

  • High standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
