We are looking for a Rail/Transport Disputes Lawyer with ideally a minimum of 3 years’ PQE to join a specialist practice handling complex, high-profile matters across the rail and transport sectors. The ideal candidate is a qualified solicitor with strong industry experience and exposure to contentious work, who combines sound legal judgement with a practical, commercially minded approach.

You will advise on disputes and contentious risks arising from major public service contracts, operational issues, procurements, infrastructure and fleet projects, safety incidents and regulatory matters. The role offers the chance to work on nationally significant matters for influential organisations across the sector. You will take ownership of your work while collaborating closely with experienced colleagues, contributing clear, commercially focused advice and helping clients navigate complex challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on contentious matters and disputes across the rail and transport sectors.

  • Support clients with disputes arising from major public service contracts and operational issues.

  • Advise on contentious risks connected with rolling stock and other procurements, infrastructure projects and fleet projects.

  • Handle matters relating to safety incidents and economic or safety regulation.

  • Provide clear, practical and commercially focused advice to help clients assess risks and options.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and clients on complex, high-profile matters.

  • Take ownership of work and contribute to the continued development of the team’s sector expertise.

Experience and Skills Sought

  • Qualified solicitor with the SRA and strong experience in the rail and transport industry, including exposure to contentious matters.

  • 3+ years’ PQE.

  • Proactive and resilient, with confidence in taking ownership and working collaboratively.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a curious, commercially minded approach.
